5 WAYS TO SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH YOUR CHILDREN EVEN WHEN YOU’RE BUSY

I’ve been asked several times by friends, family and clients how on earth I manage my time to perform as a health professional, create content, produce positive blog and vlog health, business and lifestyle videos on social mediums such as Facebook, YouTube and SnapChat. It’s funny I actually wondered myself, I didn’t realise I was doing it already without knowing! It’s all about staying organised.

Oh, and it’s also about being grateful for your kid(s) and knowing how important they are to you. Sometimes we forget. Same goes for most personal relationships we lose the ‘feel good’ lustre that it had. Think about it, when you first met your spouse, partner and your child it was an absolute exciting time, you were all filled up with great emotions but after a while we get complacent, we take them for granted and the relationship isn’t the same anymore. It happens. It’s sad but it happens. Of course the title says making time for your kids or any child/ren that is under your care however, the 5 ways can also be applied to any relationship.

1. SCHEDULE IT

Be organised. Those who say they’re so busy that they have no time are too busy whinging and complaining are not efficient and are unorganised. Your time is precious and so are your loved ones. Check out my video about “Controlling your Time“. Plan your time and stay committed to it!

2. ONE-ON-ONE TIME

Whether or not you have one or more children it is important that you organise time for each child on your own. Having one-on-one time is so special and valuable for your child. If you are incredibly busy then taking at least 30 minutes out of your schedule to spend some time alone time with your child to read, create or play can be fantastic. I’ve only got one child (so far!), but for those who have more children but you have limited time, I would advise to spend HIGH QUALITY time with each child. You don’t have to necessarily spend equal times with each child.

3. TAKE A ‘PLAY WITH YOUR KID’ BREAK

If you’ve been sitting at your desk or at your work station for wayy to long then a break is needed! You need to anyway. If you’re at work late at night and you’ve missed out on family dinner then you can always take 5-10 minutes out of your time to a ‘FaceTime’, ‘Whatsapp’ or even a Snapchat video to your children, just to let them know that you’re thinking of them. Your children will be in awe and excited to see their parent or guardian! For those who are busy at home then same thing applies, take 5-10 minutes to have a quick ‘check-in’ with your child when they’re playing with their ‘Lego’, reading a book, watching tv or doing their homework. When your break finishes make sure you leave them either laughing hysterically, smiling or in any positive manner. Even though you’re busy as f–k, whatever type of relationship you have with your child should be in a positive manner.

4. BE INVOLVED WITH THE LITTLE THINGS – THEY MATTER

You are so time strapped, it’s ridiculous! I get it. I really do. Some days I’m full up with tasks and deadlines I have to meet. It happens. My wife knows that I’d be busy so I’m left alone to get the work done asap. However, I do make time to do the little things with my daughter such as brushing her teeth, eating with her, putting her socks and shoes on or making her a sandwich! Little things that we all do which only take a matter of minutes can be made to be of high quality for your child/ren because you were simply there.

5. TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE

I didn’t want to use the word ‘KILL’ in this step because it’s a nice article about kids. But you get the notion. For those who don’t, it simply means succeeding in achieving two things in one action. Such as going to the grocery store for milk and grabbing some petrol on the way. In this case, if you’re at your workstation busy as hell, you can always have your children assist you with little, simple things that don’t harm your work. You can ask them to carry, pack or sort things, whatever it is, they would feel valued and important to your cause.

If you want to go for your run or some exercise then simply get them involved too! I’ve got clients who attend a bootcamp which also caters for kids too, so that they can do their exercise with their children also involved!

One thing I love doing is going to the supermarket. If my wife needs something from the supermarket I usually take my daughter with me. It means that we can sing songs in the car, have a chat to her while we shop and she can help scan items and pay too. Incorporating time with your children is an easy process. You just have to make it clear.

LET’S MAKE THINGS CLEAR

These aren’t hard to do are they? Very simple and effective. When I first started my business and till my daughter was about 6-10 months old, I used to be so busy that it was painful for my little baby/toddler to not recognise me. She would cry or be scared of her old man. That hurt. It really did. She would be more inviting and comfortable with other people who really spent time with her. I quit complaining and decided to control my time well.

In the distant future, when your children are reminiscing about their childhood they’ll say, “Dad/Mum were so busy making sure we had everything but they always made time to spend with us. Which Rich?

How to be rich..hmm…I’m sure the majority reading the title and the post would immediately point their attention to money in reference to this article. Cause believe it or not, money is important. Money funds our lives and allows us to live our lifestyles with the freedom of choice. Is that the type of rich you want?

If it’s not, then there’s always different types of rich such as time rich, stocks and bonds rich and nutrient rich. I’ll be focusing more on money rich vs time rich. Let’s compare shall we?

MONEY RICH

This is what you and the most of the population knows about. Money, bank accounts and investments. To simply earn money, you need to sell to a customer or business your skills, services and products. This works both ways if you’re an entrepreneur or an employee. Entrepreneurs need to make sales. Money is the oxygen of their business, if there is a lack of then guess what? Their mission’s survival is in jeopardy so they must continually sell to earn money. For the employee, they are selling their skills to a company/business in return for a salary, health benefits and other perks.

Obviously that is what everyone knows is the best way to become rich. Earn money, budget, save and or invest. This cycle is simply rinse and repeat. But with this getting rich strategy involves selling your time for money. Regardless of whatever your business or your employee role. You are selling your time.

TIME RICH

‘I’ve got no time’. ‘I’m so busy’ are common complaints when it comes to finding time or allocating priority to a certain task . Those who are ‘Time Rich’ do not say this. Being time rich is having the abundance of time, time to eat, time to walk, exercise or time to travel. I like to think that time rich is the next level up from money rich. Those who are time rich have automated sources of income. This means that their cash flow comes into their bank account on a free-flow basis via automated online software systems or a managing team/group handling your business mechanics. This means that your business whether a full time or a side-hustle is run without your presence. Therefore taking you out of the business and giving back your free time. Wouldn’t that be great?

THE LOWDOWN

Both are awesome. Really. They are. The truth is some people really freaking enjoy being the money rich type, meaning they love being immersed in their work as in they love dedicating their time to earn their cash flow. I used to be one too. I used to love it when friends and family used to admire how much I worked and the long 18-19 working hours a day I used to live. It was great but it’s not sustainable. I lived like this based on a YouTube video featuring the legendary empowerment expert, Mr Eric Thomas who was talking about famous rapper ’50 Cent’. Thomas talked about 50 cent’s work ethic in that people who sleep are those who are broke and if he slept, 50 cent would potentially miss an opportunity to grow. That really hit me and I lived like that for many months but it really ran me down.I believe my work ethic is unchallengable. But I believe what makes me more effective is my work efficiency. Being able to complete my goals and tasks within a time frame makes me much more effective.

That’s why I’ve moved into being ‘TIME RICH’. My primary business is my Podiatry clinic and Triumph Institute which I’ve chosen not to be held down seeing 20+ clients a day but rather reduce the number of patients/clients I see a day and see committed people for longer appointments. That’s the decision I made and it has been great and because of this, I have much more time to go to the gym, film vlogs, write articles, conduct meetings and have lunches with my wife! This is freedom. And the best part is that when I travel I make time to meet with clients or fellow entrepreneurs.

A powerful lesson I learnt as a kid.

This is one lesson I learnt as a young teenager which has helped shape me to who and where I am today. By applying this principle, it has helped me shut out the haters and the naysayers in my social circle and allowed me to remain focused on what I want to do in my life and how I want to. It’s about a ship.

You are a ship. Yep I said it.

We should all understand that our bodies are a vessel. Our minds and heart are out fuel for our vessel to keep moving and to take action. So with this mind, I like to think I am a ship. Ships are powerful, useful and the inner workings make it complicated. Ships aren’t like a car which is simply accelerate, steer and brake. Ships are much more than that, kinda explains me hey?! Ships have to deal with winds, currents and storms. Much like myself and you too. We have to deal with the external conditions which make our journey difficult. But if the ship can power through a storm or bad conditions and emerge with it’s precious cargo (people, stock etc..) intact then it has successfully reached our destination. Right? Sounds like you and me in our pursuit of happiness, right?

The lesson I learnt way back was that I wasn’t a ship. I just realised metaphorically I was a ship recently. But the lesson was :

‘Ships don’t sink because of the water around them. Ships sink because of the water that comes inside it’

Isn’t that priceless?! What a great lesson. It’s so true. We as the ‘ship’ don’t ‘sink’ because of the people around us but we can ‘sink’ because we let the actions and words of others get to us, into our minds. We don’t really sink but rather we become disrupted from our journey, we become upset, frustrated and fearful which of course will interfere in our journey to our destination.

So the lesson here is to impenetrable. Be solid, be headstrong and to stay on your course. Do not let anyone fill your head with fear, doubt and disbelief. I’m not saying to ignore your family or your friends, it’s okay to hear them out, acknowledge what they’re saying and make sure you maintain your ship’s impenetrable exterior. Also be sure not to convince them of your mission, your goals and dreams. They won’t be convinced and neither should you! Agree to succeed in silence. Your loved ones care about you and they may always try to hold you back and protect you from things and experiences they haven’t gone through before.

That’s why is it solely up to YOU, to convince them that IT CAN BE DONE. This also goes to the people who want to see you fail. To simply this, I want you to consider there’s two types of people, some who love you and want to shield you from ‘failure’ or harm and then there’s people who hate and envy you and want to see you fail miserably to satisfy their ego. Beat both. The only way to show them is not by talking, talking and talking. It is by showing.

Demonstrate your success by steering your ship to your destination. You may experience rough seas and bad conditions but that’s what makes your Voyage great. Keep your head and heart unsinkable and impenetrable.

The Truth about your Enemy. 

THE LOWDOWN

Say what? I have an enemy? Yes, we all have an enemy. The enemy is YOURSELF. Your mind. It’s the one that can destroy your mojo, your drive and work mentality. Your mind from a young age to where you are now has been conditioned by those around you, it has either attempted to sabotage or has elevated your success.

Your enemy enjoys blaming others too! It attempts to hide away from failure or bad times to help preserve it’s control over you so you can remain living ‘safe’ and not able to advance yourself. If you’re unhappy with your occupation, your pay then your enemy will simply blame your management, office politics, bills and even your dog! Let’s be clear here, you are where you are because of YOU. You applied for the job, got the job and continued to do the job. Am I right? There is no one else to blame than you.

If you are overweight and you’ve tried crash diets, supplements and ultimate exercise plans with no result then don’t blame anyone but you. You hired the trainer, you bought the supplements and you studied the diets. If you can understand that this is your doing and you take responsibility for it then it will allow you to grow. Trust me, you will think on higher levels because you have told yourself that ONLY YOU can dig you out of this ‘hole’ you’re in. You may conduct more research about your next personal trainer or eating plans and execute that better.

MY STORY

I strongly believe that ‘fear’ is one of the major drivers of your enemy. Fear of overworking, rejection, criticism or failure drives your enemy to inflict damage on your success. I know very well.

A while ago, I ran a promotion for a special occasion and had made up some special gift certificates which unfortunatey had sales levels low. I’ll admit it was a last minute idea and I wanted to ride a trend and I spend about 10 days promoting it. I used social media, within my office space and my clients. I took a chance and made a little profit. But for the time and monetary investment I had to sell more. I was running out of time and the trending special occassion was happening soon so I hustled. I walked door to door of retail stores looking to sell off my remaining products. It was a daunting task and obviously my enemy reared its head out and began pumping me with FEAR. Fear of rejection and fear of embarrassment were drilled into my head, my ears and my body. But I ‘centred’ myself and visualised my success and the absolute need to do this not only for sales but for me to break my enemy. I had to. It was my fault for this result. It wasn’t my wife’s or company’s fault. I had to take responsibility. I added extreme value to the task, I made it as if it was a ‘LIFE OR DEATH situation.

Thinking back I had about 11 certificates remaining and I had 3 different pricing levels. I approached 12 stores and I sold only three certificates. Two were worth $49 while the other was worth $349. Everytime I delivered my pitch and was rejected, I kept refining the pitch and noting down the reasoning behind refusal to purchase. I learnt every single time. And the more I exercised this muscle, the more I dominated my fear. In a space of approximately 80 minutes, I successfully closed 3 deals equaling $447. Not bad. But the WIN was that I challenged myself to open myself up for rejection, embarrassment and work. I won. I was bloody physically, mentally and socially exhausted. I had never done anything like this. But I pushed myself and overcame MY ENEMY.

DOMINATE YOUR ENEMY

Dominate you. Forget the naysayers and the dream suckers. Their words should not hurt you but they can influence you. By allowing yourself to listen to their words you can ultimately condition your way of thinking either in a positive or negative way. But if you can actively filter out any rubbish you are told and learn how to lock up your enemy and throw away the key then you need to do these 3 things:

1. IMMERSE yourself in your mission

You must not forget the “WHY” of what you do. It is the WHY and WHAT which drives your success. If you forget the mission then you’ve lost. Whether the goal is to increase cash flow, get fit or get promoted, you must IMMERSE yourself in this. Surround yourself with your strategic success plan, hints and reminders of your mission, you can do this by having phone reminders, wall posters and computer wallpapers. Whatever. You do whatever it takes to STICK TO YOUR MISSION.

2. KILL YOUR FEAR

Kill your fear. You must understand your fear and keep it close to your heart. I want you to actively say your fear in front of the mirror – see yourself admitting the fear. I want you to be hard on yourself and see yourself as a silly fool for having this fear. I want you to move your body, clap, shout and jump – mix in physical psyching up. Basically shake out your fears. Be angry at your fears but be excited about the amazing things you’re going to do for success. You’ll do whatever it takes.

This is how I start my day. Before I step out of my bathroom and head off to attack my day, I always psych myself up in front of the mirror.

3. EXECUTE

So you’ve got the plan, you’ve psyched yourself up and now you MUST execute. You must complete the mission. VISUALISE and create value to the task. Create urgency and importance by imagining whatever is most important to you in your life is in jeopardy. I always use visualisation of my life at risk, disappointment from my wife and daughter or my business will collapse if I don’t do this. Yes, I’m being hard on myself but if I don’t create a sense of urgency and absolutely NEED to do then I won’t crush the task and the fear.
Are you finding this quite intense? Good. It’s supposed to be. I want you to finish this article feeling pumped and nervous about doing the above 3 steps. YOU MUST DO WHATEVER IT TAKES. Stop living oppressed, safe and comfortable. Embrace your dreams by kicking the shit out of your fear. You are where you are because of you, not anyone else. Take responsibility.

5 STEPS TO CONQUERING YOUR FEARS

The heavy darkness and the ‘ball and chain’ attached to your ankle makes you drag your feet as you step closer and closer. Palms get sweater, breathing becomes shallow, your heart beat may speed up, muscles and ‘knees’ weaken  and diarrhoea beckons. You are suffering from FEAR.

We are suffer from fear. May it be fear of rejection, fear of criticism, fear of animals or heights! What are your fears? Do you agree that fears hold you back?

I find fear quite fascinating in that it makes such a massive impact to one’s body system, it’s as if fear is a virus to your body, destroying it from the inside and holding you back from achieving many things in life. Your body is operating in different levels when you are in FEAR mode and the typical response is whether your ‘Fight or Flight’, this means you either fight your way through the fear of potential harm or you take flight and get the hell away from this potential harm. I also like to call this concept as FIGHTER MODE VS SURVIVAL MODE.

Fear is the door in the way of your success

MY FEAR

I remember when I was a young kid my family dog Lucky had ran away usually pursuing another dog or some fun. He’d usually return after 1-2 days and we’d all breathe a sigh of relief. But not this time. He hadn’t returned for several days now and we were fearing the worse. Dad organised a search party and door knocking. I remember I sabotaged Dad’s search tactics for me which was to go door knocking the whole block. I found some bullshit excuse to not go (it’s been so long ago, I can’t remember how I sabotaged it!), simply because I was scared, I was fearful. My Dad didn’t know that I hadn’t done what he had set out and I remember it was on a Tuesday that he had discovered I hadn’t gone door knocking and he looked me in the eye and called me a ‘coward’. He shook his head and walked away. He was disgusted. Well, that’s how I played it out on my mind.

I was a coward! How much did Lucky mean to me? He was lost. He could’ve been run over by a car or worse! He was family and because of  my apparent Fear of Rejection, I was allowing ‘family’ to be in danger. So it spurred me on to face my fears and go door knocking. I was fuelled by the need to find Lucky and of course the sheer disappointment and the words ‘coward’ spoken by Dad.

This event changed my life. It really did. I’m not some coward bitch. I choose FIGHT all the time. I choose to FIGHT to survive not RUN to survive.

From this understanding, my nervous system’s ability to go straight to FIGHT mode has helped me to dominate such activities as :

  • conducting cold calls
  • go door knocking
  • selling vouchers, coupons and products to businesses
  • meet new people – networking
  • listen and absorb criticism
  • do public speaking

FEAR IS THE PRODUCT YOUR THOUGHTS SOLD YOURSELF

Fear is subjective, it’s your perception and your own thoughts that develops fear. Your thoughts of whatever situation you’re in kick-starts your fight or flight response which means you’re already in FEAR mode. Stop manufacturing bullshit ideas about a situation, a task or an event. These thoughts are killing your growth in life and the amazing potential success you can have, if only you can conquer your fears.

You made this. You build a door that stops you from achieving success. Could your success be making more money by asking for a promotion or raise from your manager? Could your success be that you closed a $10,000 deal by making a cold call? Could your success be that you’ve lost weight, got fit and competed in bodybuilding competitions?

Just imagine for one tick that you were able to smash through that ‘door’ of fear and embrace that challenge and achieving success! How good does that feel? Isn’t it worth embracing the fighter response and continue to pursue success? You see how much your mind plays on your mind and completely wrecks it by applying fear?

You must understand your fear. Do you fear rejection, criticism, terrorism, death, loss of loved ones, failure or your health? Fear shouldn’t be so negative, I’d rather see fear as a trigger or a reason to dominate your life. You see, if you fear rejection and you choose to confront it by making that cold call or doing effective canvassing then you’ve already won, you’ve dominated your fears. The sale is a bonus!

5 STEPS TO DOMINATING FEARS

  1. Write down your dream goal and describe how you’d feel achieving this

  3. Describe what you’re fearing
    • Identify what exactly you’re afraid of
    • How did you generate this?
  4. Declaration
    • Film or record yourself declaring your fear(s) and how you came about it
    • Film or record yourself how silly your fear is and how it is holding you back from great success. Repeat loudly, ‘Fears are all in my head. I’m the boss NOT my fears’
    • Film or record yourself speaking about being grateful for your life, family, skills, opportunities etc..
    • Make sure you are in FIGHTER MODE and pumped for change, hell even do 20 push-ups or 5 minutes of shadow boxing – just to massive increase your adrenaline (a hormone very useful for ‘pumping you up’!)
  5. Apply your strategic plan and goals immediately
    • Facilitate your recent confrontations with your fears by backing it up with actions you wrote down on your plan.

If you want to be successful, you must have this essential trait…

If you or someone else has been keeping busy talking about success and how they’re GONNA achieve it and continue to do that for a long period of time then they lack the most important trait for success. What is that trait?

The powerful trait is ‘Hustler’. I define HUSTLE as maximising every second of the day to ethically doing whatever it takes to achieving your goals. Do you have this personality? This character trait? Look, success is a broad term and is always paired up with business, occupation, exercise and/or finances so if you’re someone who dreams about being successful in whatever thing you choose to do, you won’t be able to achieve it without having the power of the hustle.

How Grant found his groove

I had made a few major life decisions a few years ago and they were shitball defied logic (if that makes sense). But although my investments in business and finance were a tad bit risky, I took the opportunity anyway. I basically dove into a situation where I will be challenged and definitely be backed against the wall – my friends and some family advised to delay these decisions but I embrace opportunities and challenges and I committed.

A million things happened straight after, meetings upon meetings, bills upon bills and bad times upon stressful times. Boy oh boy, it really felt like I was a boxer trapped in the corner of the ring and getting repeatedly pummelled with no reprieve.

It was a dark time. I still shudder when I think back about it. I remember just sitting in my car and feeling awfully flat. People know me as always being enthusiastic but I was putting up a show. What was I to do? My parents never gave up when they left war torn Vietnam looking for FREEDOM. C’mon. This isn’t life or death situation is it? Can things be that bad? Yes. Do I give up? F*ck no. I’m not built for this whinging shit.

I could either choose to feed the black burden monster who was sitting on my shoulders weighing me down by continuing to apply more attention to it OR, refuse to and direct my attention to what the hell I could do about it. I got myself here, I have to dig myself out. Only I can do what I want to do. I simply changed the wording of my thoughts from ‘I can’t….’ to ‘How can I…?’

Fight or Flight kicked in. I unleashed my inner groove/my Hustle and Grinder personality with the help of Mr Grant Cardone, Mr Tony Robbins and Mr Gary Vee who helped me open my eyes wider when it came to success in business. TO be successful you must HUSTLE, yes. But it’s all about how good you are with coping and dealing with any situation. That’s how you will be remembered for.

BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. I powered back and I ‘jabbed jabbed, right hooked’ the black burden monster in the left and then the right cheek. He crumbled. The sheer force of my FIGHT systems knocked him out cold. I RAGED AND CHARGED UP and I defeated my negative voices and my problems. Each jab and each hook was a phone call or a visit to a potential referrer or a potential joint venture. I kept attacking my problems by hustling. I did whatever it took to win. I pushed myself. I challenged myself and forced myself to step out of my safety zone to put myself out vulnerable to a potential client. It was worth it. I made videos, I wrote blogs, I did public speaking, I networked and best of all, I wrote for physical media such as newspapers and magazine articles. I wanted to be everywhere. Uncle G (Grant Cardone) preaches that if you must dominate your niche by being OMNIPRESENT. Be absolutely everywhere. I wanted to be the first and only name people thought of when it came to health, marketing and small business.

 

You see its easy to say that you hustle and grind. But a hustler absolutely cannot be a hustler from no motivation nor drive. You must have some incredible powerful need to achieve this objective and you’ll automatically do whatever it takes. For me, nowadays with my wife and daughter, my business, my investments, it’s all about ‘Bulletproofing my lifestyle’. Bulletproofing my lifestyle means that I’m always able to sustain my lifestyle and to have the ability to choose to do whatever the hell I wanted.

Thank you for reading my story. I never want to ever go back there ever again. However, I sometimes revisit these memories to not pain me, but to absolutely freaking drive me for greatness. As you read this article, are you also watching tv or bludging? I certainly hope not. I hope you’re reading this article during your short work break. GET OFF YOUR ASS and WORK for your goals and dreams. Geezus.

No matter what your aspirations are only you can do it. There is no argument about this. No one in this world knows your dreams best than you. If someone has to do it for you then you’ve short changed yourself. Mummy, Daddy or any of your friends and family won’t do it for you. Even if they did, it won’t be the same. You see it’s not just about achieving the end goal but rather success if also about the journey too. So you must embrace the nature of the journey and the end goal.

MY STORY

I’m a middle child in my family. I won’t go into family specifics but I suffered from ‘middle-child syndrome’ and I always felt insecure and inferior. Yes, it’s true. When it came to school, exercise, chores and martial arts I always felt that I had to take a step back and allow those who were higher in the pecking order (my brother) sit higher.

I remember reading my school reports and despite good and high grades I was always frustrated with the comments from my teachers that I had ‘a lot of potential’. What was wrong with me? Sometimes I actually believed that my dad had paid my teachers to keep saying ‘potential’ to me! Crazily enough I went through school from kindergarten to my early years of university to realise WHAT THE HELL! F**K! Yep, it took that long to actually embrace the concept of breaking open that ‘box’ which stored my potential.

It came when I started my business and I worked as a contractor as a Podiatrist for another business and worked under someone. I learnt so much there – A LOT. It was a great experience in terms of practising my art but understanding their  business mechanics and people management was horrible. Stupidly enough I stuck around for almost 6 years! When I informed them of my resignation I was shaking with my adrenalin pumping. I remember I had no car as my wife had taken it so I had to walk 10 minutes in the light drizzle of rain to the train station with my backpack and I felt liberated – much like Tim Robbins in one of my all time favourite movies called “The Shawshank Redemption”. In case you haven’t seen it I won’t divulge too much of the story but here’s a picture!

From then on, I kickstarted my own practice, I experienced the highs and lows of business and the pressure to keep my ‘oxygen’ – cash flow sustained and steady. In a space of 4-6 months, I had doubled my income by building joint ventures, networking, marketing and embracing social media. It has been a long journey it really really has. However, it’s absolutely not the money that is my success but my journey and the legacy that I am creating in pursuit of my goals. If I was satisfied with my cash flow from selling my time as a Podiatrist, why would I pursue my latest venture “WATCHGRANT”?

Because I STILL BELIEVE that my ‘invisible teachers’ are saying that I still haven’t tapped my FULL POTENTIAL. I am so much more capable. I have 10x goals. I want to have multiple streams of income sending me six to seven figures a week. Why? Yes because if I’m not greedy I won’t be able to sustain my lifestyle, my business and my team. If I can’t bulletproof the foundations of my life HOW ON EARTH can I pursue new avenues? Y’know what one of my biggest dream is? To provide motivational speaking and coaching for our youth in high school and university. They are our future generations – teach and coach them well then our world’s economic and environment is always going to be bright. But only I CAN DO THAT. I’ll have help of course. But ultimately, I have to steer the ship at first.

5 STEPS TO HUSTLE AND GRIND

1. GET OFF YOUR ARSE

Turn off the tv, turn off the games and stop lazing around. Stop bitching about where your life is and stop blaming others. You are where you are because of YOU. No one else. You must declare that your future is decided by you. If you want to be great then you must do great things.

2. WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT?

Dreaming is thinking. Dreaming allows your potential to stay stored. ACT! Write down what you want on paper, the wall, the toilet, your phone wherever! Then chunk it down into goals! Understanding what you want is crucial to your success. Most of the time, people don’t even know themselves!

Remember your goals should be aimed at improving YOU. Doing what’s great in creating MORE CASH FLOW, where it be starting your business, improving your customer traffic or fast-tracking your way up the corporate, business ladder.

3. HUSTLE & GRIND

As you start out building your new income stream you’d be on your own on this. Understand that this new rollercoaster you’re on is much more scary but you must anticipate this! Be urgently patient [INSERT LINK!]. Conduct your business or your corporate position at 200% levels with complete work and team ethic. Dominate your space and make your name heard and remembered.

To do this, you must combine your goals with strategies and anticipated outcomes (my FREE Download to GOAL success has all of this inbuilt! Absolutely no catch! Just do well!)

4. THE A-TEAM

Once you’ve trialled your strategies and have developed a system for the way you conduct, it’s time to recruit valuable people who would only ADD massive value to your strategies and systems. If you’re in the corporate world then you need to network and improve your team morale so that you all function at 200%.

The general idea is to improve efficiency and effectiveness in generating more income OR complete corporate projects before the deadline!

5. RINSE & REPEAT

Keep refining your goals, strategies and systems. Rinse and repeat till your role is simply innovate and improve the function of your business or your national/regional team! That’s right you read me! This is the time when you can pursue new projects and challenges while your super A-team keep your other ventures/projects going.

THE LESSON

If you do little and what’s easy. You get little.

If you do great things that’s NOT easy, you get little and you get MASSIVE.

You can choose to live a life where you’re comfortable. DO you. I want more and more because I get to push myself, challenge myself to do amazing things and GET rid of that “Grant’s got potential” shit. I want to own and dominate my space.

You can keep watching the box and reality tv but the reality is, you’ve got potential.

One day I’ll be able to say I made it

One day, I’ll make it. My hustle and grind will pay off. That massive opportunity is just around the corner. I just have to keep running, fighting and moving. If I stop, if I quit, then it will all be wasted. Trust me, even with my stubborn headstrong attitude for success and wanting more from my life, I too suffer from occasional complacency and discontent. Is it from my social circle telling me that I’ve already made it and not to be greedy? Is it the ballers and the billionaires flying around with private jets and Rolls Royces that keep pushing me?

ACCOUNTABILITY
Remember that my core approach to my hustle and grind is to ‘BULLETPROOF MY LIFE’, so that I can support and sustain every aspect of my lifestyle so that I can pursue new and exciting prospects and ideas. The truth is my family is what I do this for. Should anything ever happen to me, I want them to be looked after and supported, regardless of my welfare.

I believe when ‘I make it’ is when I’ve got 5+ solid streams of high net income flow coming from 2-3 businesses, business and property investments, a massive 6-figure following on social media, great health, business, marketing and sales speaking opportunities to groups and corporations and more travelling with my family. I want to be the FIRST NAME when people think about health and business and side hustle opportunities. I want to be known to the world. Am I being too ambitious? F!!!KING great! I always set the bar massively high so that I can constantly PUSH MYSELF out of my comfort zone to FIGHT and CHALLENGE myself to new frontiers. Being safe and doing what’s easy and ‘sexy’

does not mean success. But getting in the trenches and doing what’s ugly and painful will lead to success. When I do this, I constantly WIN regardless of the outcome.

HOW WILL I DO THIS?
I started ‘watchGrant’ because I was sick and tired of living minuscule, I wanted to be a beacon of someone who started small and grew his business, his profile and awareness bigger and bigger so that it will INSPIRE YOU.

How will I do this? BE CONSISTENT. Be consistent with content, networking and pitching. If I choose to sit at my office or at home hiding behind my computer then I will get nowhere. It’s the consistency, persistence and determination that drives me and I have to push push, no BITCHING. One of my greatest inspirations, Grant Cardone says, “Stop living in BITCH MODE, live in RICH MODE”

Just like Gary Vaynerchuk (famous US entrepreneur) taught me through his amazing content, regardless of how many people watch or follow you, all it takes is that ONE person who has the key to your door of massive opportunity that I must stick with. The path to my ambitions above is somewhere there, just around the corner, not far at all I just have to keep running.

WHEN WILL YOU ‘MAKE IT’?
Regardless of where you are, have you made it? Are you satisfied with what you’ve done, have you bulletproofed your lifestyle? If you haven’t, then get going. I’ll say this now, you don’t have to quit your day job if you have some sort extenuating circumstances, I want you to expand your horizons, travel more, increase your income, start that side hustle or do that hobby that you’ve wanted to start. DAMN IT, STOP LIVING IN OBSCURITY AND SAFETY. CHALLENGE YOURSELF FOR GREATNESS.

How travel can supercharge your success

“Really?!”, said one of my clients the other day when I was discussing the importance of travel. “I thought you were all about hard work and never resting until you dead!”. Fella has got a point. I am 150% in the hustle and grind, I work my butt off often long hours, sometimes not sleeping at all. It’s not because there’s a problem with my effectiveness, but rather I’m too focused on the project and the tasks that I lose track of time. Despite my mental capacity seemingly lasting so far with my work ethic, I must realise that my effectiveness suffers a lot due to not only mental fatigue but also physical.

Even when I hear my friend’s stories of working late and sometimes ending up sleeping at their office I always reassure them that they are awesome for being so dedicated (or so they can get their bonus or not get fired!) but absolutely silly when it comes down to execution and effectiveness. Remember folks, the crucial factor of working is about OUTCOME. If you have no outcome, then you’ve wasted your time!

I want you to expand your horizons. I want you to rest up and make time to see the world as much as you can. The world is everywhere. You can fly, cruise, drive or walk! It doesn’t matter because in the end, the outcome of your travels are 3-fold!:

 


 

3 OUTCOMES OF TRAVELLING:

1. Meet new people – network

Remember your network is your NETWORTH! To be successful is to have a wide scope of potential clients and referrers to your business. I’m proud to say that with my two primary ventures my network spans many continents including Australia, USA, Singapore and New Zealand! And I’m still targeting exponential growth in my network.

Building connections can be so beneficial to your occupation or to your business and when you travel interstate or overseas, that person you meet at the conference, by the bar or by the pool can potentially be your greatest advisor, client or referrer! Always go out to make new relationships.

2. Discover and reflect on yourself – rest

Rest. Working yourself ragged and into the ground is not a great idea. I am all for busting your ass to achieve your goals and dreams by working HARD and there’s the new age mindset of working SMART. But I want you to embrace working EFFECTIVELY.

You gotta agree that if you work long hours then certainly fatigue would set in and your effectiveness in achieving your outcomes is lessened. I’ll admit there sometimes when I’m grinding out some videos or writing posts I may nod off and eventually awaken with some paper on my forehead and drool! Hey I worked hard in this instance but was I effective? Absolutely not. I’d rather go to bed and rise earlier to complete that task refreshed. It’s obvious right? But rarely applied.

3. Embrace new cultures and ways of life

When i left Port Villa in Vanuatu I learnt so much from my experience in the markets and in town. This experience reminded me of the ways of life in Asia, where people are plying their trade, trying to increase their day’s earnings by being “URGENTLY PATIENT”. They were being patient in their potential customer but they approached the sale urgently and effectively. Now that’s just one experience.

Only through travelling out of your comfort zone or your postcode or your suburb and city can you experience different people and ways of life. Once you’ve experienced it, EMBRACE IT. Fully immerse yourself in that lifestyle.

THE LESSON

I’m not saying you should go holiday mad, binge drinking and spending. But rather make sure you travel with 3 goals in improving your network and networth, enhancing your rest and recovery and allowing you to learn new cultures and ways of life.

Benjamin Franklin was and still is a national icon of the USA. He was a Founding father of the USA, an innovator, an inventor and a game changer among many other roles he was involved in. This man envisioned concepts and ideas and made them reality. He got things done. Benjamin Franklin would certainly be on top of my ‘Historic icons I want to meet’ list. He inspired me when I read a special bio about his work effectiveness and his ‘What good will I do today’ mentality.

Mr Franklin would start his day at 5:00am and planned his day out in hourly blocks which included lunch and dinner and bedtime at 10pm. You can certainly work work work hard and end up working an 18-20hour day, but Mr Franklin decided to work hard efficiently. The primary question he asked in the morning was ‘what good shall I do today?’ He was already kickstarting his drive by ensuring he utilised his day to be outcome focused. Something we all should be doing. And what he did when he ended the day with supper or bedtime was appreciate ‘the good’ that he did that day. Do you do this? Or do you spend the night dreading tomorrow or complaining about your day.

Replicate/Be a Pretender.

Remember way back on my YouTube series ‘watchGrant’ episode 5 – ‘Be a Pretender’? My concept was to model someone successful and replicate their motions and technique and apply them to your work to help hasten your success. After reading Mr Franklin’s hustle, I replicated his day planning to a tee. Ok, I didn’t sleep as much as he did but I’ve based my day on his. I WANT TO approach my day positively, by asking myself out loud while brushing my teeth, ‘what awesome things will I do today?’ To commit to attaining amazing outcomes that pushed my barriers and beat my goals and win. Here’s what YOU need to do be highly effective.

The Franklin Hustle

Funnily enough I haven’t seen anyone develop this as a technique! Could I be a pioneer? Hope so. Anyway, study and immerse yourself into these crucial steps if you want to 10x your goals and achieve success whether you’re working for someone or for yourself. The Franklin Hustle involves 6 steps, go tackle them:

1. At the start of your work week, establish what you want to achieve for the next 7 days. Make sure these weekly goals are ALWAYS in your face – write them on a whiteboard, print and stick to your wall etc..

2. Every evening after dinner or last meal before bedtime spend 15-20 minutes chunking your weekly goals into smaller tasks that go into your day

3. When you get into bed, before you close your eyes to sleep, appreciate everything you done that day whatever the outcome was and promise to do greater things tomorrow.

4. During your morning routine, ask yourself, ‘What good will I do today?’ And remind and review your day goals you planned last night.

5. HUSTLE AND GRIND. Earn your rest.

6. RINSE & REPEAT.

Mr Franklin’s work built his legacy. Why wouldn’t you model a man who is printed on American currency?!

THE LESSON

Working hard with no outcome or effect is useless. Your daily work must be OUTCOME driven. That’s how you feel satisfied with your day. Working hard with no outcome will only bring your mood down. Effectiveness trumps hard work anyday.
